Walking extra 500 steps for Weight Loss

A person's risk of developing heart disease is directly related to his or her degree of daily exercise.

Steinbaum stated that simply walking a few blocks more each day may have a positive effect on your health, and that even the smallest increments of improvement can pile up over time. 

"Better to do something than nothing," she said. If walking is the first step in adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle, then those first few steps are the most important.

 While regular gym time has obvious health benefits, even a short walk may help you meet your weekly fitness goals.

Specifically, "walking can absolutely count towards those guidelines, if the walking is done as a deliberate and intentional exercise.

Walking is a great kind of exercise for beginners since it does not need any specific warm-up or preparation and can be done almost anyplace.  

At least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week is recommended by most health organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Heart Association.
